It seems as if we are all reaching the fringes of being collectively brain dead. The good thing, everyone is working, the bad thing is several people are deciding to work for the first time this semester, and will be mad when they have to see me again in the spring because they didn't feel like showing up or turning in anything this first go around. I love to tell the potential do-overs that "I'm not any better the second time around, the jokes are still the same, and still bad." Sometimes that motivates folks, sometimes not...
1st Hour
My first hour class is diligently working on their small group presentations on Supreme Court cases, it sounds like most of them are understanding their cases which is sometimes challenging, and some of them are pretty upset with the decisions of the high court, so maybe I'll see some good arguments.
This class was interesting to talk about today because of last night's shooting at Dillons and the ensuing manhunt. If you have no idea what I am talking about (http://cjonline.com/news/2012-12-17/update-injured-man-taken-scene-stakeout). It was interesting to talk about because several kids either lived near the Dillons, knew the officers, knew the shooter, or lived near where the manhunt was occurring last night/this morning.
2nd Hour
These were some smart kids on the verge of insane-senioritis! We are nearly done with our supreme court presentations in this class (check out the Hall of Fame portion of the AP Gov Page). We saw some parodies of songs, gifs galore, and even people making it rain with fake money to teach campaign finance reform and limitations on speech. It was interesting, we'll see if they can stay focused through the rest of the week!
3rd Hour
More of the same from first hour.....
So the grand question becomes, am I busy checking my facebook? No.....we'll maybe a little. As I am struggling to find ways to succinctly use the thousands of options for web 2.0 technology in my classes, today's self project during research projects is how to successfully incorporate Google Drive/Docs in an organized fashion for my classes and a tool to use during forensics season in the spring.
If anyone has resources they like to use, or other good idiots guide to google drive, hook me up!
