Well, this week is done.....D-O-N-E...DONE. The Monday supplemental draft had clear winners and losers, but most important of all, lets see how the draft impacted my weekly picks. After last week I was 17-4. Here is how the week went down:
Teghan over Kim Jong Tomb (incorrect thanks to my mean re-draft for Teghan and the Backdoor trade between KJT and the Ducks)
Baby Ducks (easily) over Lauren (Correct, but it wasn't so easy)
Axis of Evil over GDI (Correct, but close)
Katie over Tsunami of Insane Daleks (incorrect)
ABC over Azeem (correct)
Macalaster Milfs over T-Money$$$ (Correct)
Hellena over Adrienne (Correct)
Well, 5-2 for the week, should have been 6-1 but I had to make a statement in Teghan's draft.......Kids....Don't Skip Class! This brings my pick total up to 22-6.
Lets get to our games of the week:
Match up 1 pitted the Undefeated Azeem Currah vs the 3-2 Aaron's Black Crackers. Russia put up its usual large numbers for Azeem, but they were no match for Germany in the midst of dealing with the Greek Austerity crisis. While they both had weaker countries filling their stable, time finally caught up with Azeem and he was not able to dodge this opponent. This moved Azeem down to 2nd in the LDC's and it moved Aaron from 5th into 4th. If Azeem loses again next week he could fall further down the division since he has a lower overall point total than most of his conference.
Matchup 2 ended up being a far more attractive pick than I thought it would be, the showdown between The Tsunami of Insane Daleks and Katie Sweeney. These two squads bounced back and forth all week, and both countries benefitted from the supplemental draft on Monday with the Tsunami picking up India and Katie picking up Japan (from the Tsunami, ironically). While both countries put up 100+, and they both had decent second countries picking up 70+, the Tsunami was able to squeak out this win by 3 points. Giving this matchup the squeaker-of-the-weeker award, and I think this is Katie's second loss of less than 5 points. Both squads sit at 3-3 in their division putting the Tsunami in 2nd and Katie in 3rd.
Another close matchup and the potential end-of-the-season toilet bowl......the Axis of Evil (re-named, As Long as I Beat Lucas, it Doesn't matter) took down the GDI by 12 points......Yawn and depressing all at the same time.
It's time for the weekly awards!
Rockstar of the Week:
This is a tie. It is going to Aaron's Black Crackers for taking down his division's undefeated, and for Lauren's meteoric rise this week.
Blowout of the Week:
The Macalaster MILF's took down T-Money$$$ Givens by 152 points, which only shows how scary Macalester will be, and how disappointing T-Money$$$ has become.
Squeak-er of the Week-er
Tsunami's 3 point victory over Katie Sweeney
Bonehead Move of the Week
Teghan, for losing her powerhouse country, and missing the chance to re-draft herself on Monday.
The Lucas Ryan Memorial Sad Trombone Award:
This goes to Jack and Lucas.......11 teams this week had higher individual scores than this combined match-up.
Week 7 Predictions
Kim Jong TOMB over the GDI (Because Jake won't let Alex lose to Lucas.....#Bromance)
Baby Ducks over Tsunami of Insane Daleks
Teghan over the American Axis of Evil
Lauren over Katie (this is a tough pick.....but Katie has let me down twice so far in weekly picks)
Aaron's Black Crackers over PO Life
Macalester MILFS over Adrienne Cox
Hellena over T-Money$$$ Givens
Azeem will pad his win lead with his bye this week.
Games of the Week:
The game to watch is Lauren v. Katie (Lauren...did you think you'd ever read that?) Because of her rise, and Katie's status as an intermittent threat makes this a big week to watch. A win for Lauren could move her up into the top half of the league.
Every LDC matchup should be interesting as the bloodbath will continue to ensue....attractive match-ups to watch are: ABC vs PO life, and Macalester vs Adrienne.
Tune in next week to see what plot twist is in store to be introduced week 8 of Fantasy Geopolitics...
I know I have used this sign-off before, but Spock died......and as a big nerd....that is sad and sucks a lot! So.....here it is:
