First things first, lets assess my picks last week, and see how accurate the commish is (since he is regretting not jumping in the league):
The Commish's Picks (published on 2/1):
Hellena over Mali (Now King Jong Tomb) (Correct)
ABC over Teghan (Correct)
Macallaster over Lauren (Correct)
T-Money over the GDI (Correct)
Azeem over the Tsunami (Correct)
PO Life over Axis of Evil (Correct)
Katie over Adrienne (Incorrect)
Not too bad, 6-1 and Adrienne barely shot by Katie (more on that Later)!
I should re-name the Lesser Developed Countries division the NATIONS OF DOMI-NATION, where they picked up all 7 match-ups this week, and the only win for the First Worlds came to the Baby Ducks who was sitting on his Bye week.
The two Games of the Week were: The Tsunami of Insane Daleks vs. Azeem and the American Axis of Evil vs PO life.
The Tsunamis vs Azeem was the match it promised to be all week, slowly bouncing back and forth until Thursday (if my memory serves me correctly) where Azeem slowly started pulling ahead, besting the Daleks by 27 points. This gives Azeem his 3rd win in a row (3-0) and the Tsunami of Insane Daleks falls to what appears to be a dissapointing 1-2 record, but he still sits in 2nd in his division.
The American Axis of Evil was D.O.A. this week struggling throughout, even asking me 2-3 times who would be a good pick-up. PO Life bounced back from last week's surprising defeat to the Tsunami but put out a considerably lower score. PO Life is now 2--1, but on the bottom of the LDC's, the Axis of Evil is now 1-2, but is sitting in 4th in his division.
This week's awards go to the following teams:
Rockstar of the Week:
Goes to the Macalaster MILFs, adding about 70 points to what he put up last week. If his nations stay productive, he could really challenge the folks in his division, he is sitting in 4th in the LDC's, and 5th in the league, but is sitting behind the Baby Ducks in cumulative points by only 20, really challenging what I think Big Jake's dominance could be.
Blowout of the Week:
Also going to Macalaster, easily taking care of Lauren by 240 points, which I believe is the largest margin of victory to date!
Squeak-er of the Week-er:
This goes to my one wrong pick of the week, I am rooting for the First Worlds, because they are all clearly underdogs, and Katie was close to giving her division their only competitive victory of the week, but Adrienne snuck out a close victory, by only 4 points...which might be our smallest margin of victory yet.
Bonehead Move of the Week:
This is going to the following teams for not dropping some crazily-low point getters: The axis of Evil and Uganda's epic 6 points, Kim Jong Tomb (who dropped Mali last week and picked up Nepal) with a lovely 7 points. Adrienne has the disappointing 7 point Myanmar.....
The Sad Trombone:
This is going out to every team (but Jake) in the First worlds......nobody won this week, and a special shout-out to Lauren, Tegan, and Lucas (the GDI) who have zero wins so far.
This next week is where things should start getting interesting, however, because we start CONFERENCE PLAY! Match-ups to watch: The clear match-up of the week is T-Money$$$ Givens vs. Azeem because that is where we will see one of our undefeated teams fall. I'm also interested to watch the battle between the Baby Ducks and Kim Jong TOMB, not because I think Alex has a chance, but to watch former band-mates throw down (check them out here). There will also be some table-on-table crime and EITHER TEGHAN OR LAUREN WILL GET A WIN in their epic showdown this week.
The Commish's Weekly Picks
Baby Ducks over Kim Jong Tomb
Teghan over Lauren
Tsunami of Insane Daleks over the GDI
Katie (don't let me down again) over the American Axis of Evil
Macalaster Milfs over Aaron's Black Crackers
T-Money$$$ Givens over Azeem Currah
Adrienne Cox over PO Life
Will we have 2 undefeated teams, 1? Zero? Who will get their first taste of victory Teghan or Lauren, and will Lucas and Alex still continue their streaks of disappointment?
