Well, last week's twist most definitely shook the game up, with a draft, a veto, and a change in the draft order, things were most definitely wild!
Here were my re-upped week 10 predictions after the re-draft went down:
TOMB over Axis of Evil (Coalition) (correct)
Baby Ducks over GDI (correct)
Katie over Teghan (incorrect)
Lauren over Tsunami (Correct)
Macalester over (Whatever Smith Calls Himself Now) (correct)
T-Money$$$$ over Adrienne ("Don't Be Upsetti, have Some Spaghetti?") (Correct)
Helena(anything but east side?) over Azeem (Correct)
Another 6-1 week, and an incorrect backing of Katie, I am 41-8.
Last week I highlighted 5 matches that have some potential serious playoff applications.
1. TOMB vs The Axis of Evil.
This match was very, very close, decided in favor of the TOMB by only 18 points. Although, with the Ducks willing to help the TOMB at any cost, I am nearly certain he might not have lost anyway. The TOMB should have hoped that the computer accidentally doubled-up Qatar instead of Switzerland who was his largest points of the week (81). Qatar and the Ukraine did OK, and the UK was not very useful. While Turkey was great for the GDI-AOE coalition, nobody else really rose to help the AOE's point total out. This week's win kept the TOMB in 6th in the division, but keeps his playoff hopes alive, however to move ahead any more, he needs to keep winning (with some extra points...because he is 300 pts behind Teghan and 900 behind Katie), and he needs key losses by the ladies above him.
2. Teghan vs. Katie (I'm better than Jack).
While I predicted Katie (I don't know why), Teghan, who drafted a little better, came out on top by 38 points. Iran was HUGE for Teghan, with an OK performance by Brazil, Morocco and Sudan didn't do too much to help her out. Katie also had huge numbers in from Australia, but everyone else was below 40.....This didn't change much between these two squads as they still sit at 4th and 5th in the division, with Teghan on the outside looking in. They both still have a shot in getting a spot. If one wins, and the other loses, then we will flip flop the final playoff spot.
3. Tsunami vs. Lauren
This week is precisely what Lauren needed. A win gives her a .500 record and shot her above Katie in the playoff hunt. Lauren's week was assisted by the tragedy in France, and Nigeria, but Colombia was extremely weak. Maybe the Tsunami shouldn't have swapped 2nd round picks, and he could have drafted a little better. Japan helped him a lot, but TONGA......seriously???????? That pick only gave him 6 points and probably is the reason he lost...Thomas still sits in 2nd, with a 500 pt lead over 3rd and is a win over 4th needs to step his game up in the last 3 weeks of the season if he wants to be in the playoffs.
4. Smith lost......and he is really mad that his number 1 overall pick of China was stolen from him by Tavarous....What will help him is losses by Helena or Azeem since he is close to both of them in their overall point totals.
5. T-Money$$$ vs Adrienne (Don't Be Upsetti, have Some Spaghetti)
This week was BIG for Tavarous, as he conveniently played his country swap card after the draft to steal China and Germany, which allowed him to be quite the juggernaut this week, gaining the highest point total by 95 points. Tavarous had 3 countries over 100 points, with the 4th at 97.....I think this might be the highest weekly points of the season.....While he is sitting in 6th, the win helped, and he could easily steamroll his way through the last 3 weeks (Ducks, Tomb, Daleks), to sneak his way into the final playoff spot.
Here are your weekly awards:
Blowout of the Week
This goes to T-Money$$$'s 263 point SLAYING of "Don't Be Upsetti, Have Some Spaghetti"
Rockstar of the Week
I will have to again, say T-Gives, and his smart tactical move of stealing post-draft.
Squeak-er of the Week-er
The TOMB wins an award, sneaking 18 points past the American Axis of Evil (or GDI-AOE Coalition)
Bonehead Move of the Week
This is a couple: 1. Smith trying to drop Yemen when the president fled the country (98 points), and his sad quitter-esque mentality after he lost China......
The Lucas Ryan Memorial Sad Trombone Award
While Lucas qualified for Nationals this weekend, he will be nowhere close to qualifying for the playoffs (he is the first mathematically eliminated team).
Next Week's Projections:
MILFS over TOMB
T-Money$$$ over Ducks (unless Jake has a card up his sleeve)
ABC over Lauren
Anything but East Side over GDI
Azeem over Tsunami of Insane Daleks
Don't Be Upsetti.... over Axis of Evil
I'm Better than Jack over PO Life
Teghan's bye will help her out, especially if she picks up some good points.
I'm Out.......But I leave you with one of the greatest Entrances Ever....
