We all knew the folks at ESPN weren't that bright........and right now WSU is getting turnt.....(up by 11 with 9 left as I start this post), but many of your brackets might be busted, but your Fantasy Geopolitics regular season is running down the home stretch.
This week's twist allowed the rich to get richer in some instances, some folks made some interesting picks, and some folks just didn't answer my message to them......so we will see how the country theft shook up my predictions.
My week 9 predictions were:
Lauren over the TOMB (correct)
Ducks over Teghan (correct)
Katie over GDI (correct)
Tsunami over Axis of Evil (correct)
Helena over ABC (wrong)
PO Life over Tavarous (correct)
Azeem over Adrienne (correct)
So it was another 6-1 week, bringing my running total up to 35-7.....which might be dong as well as my bracket picks....
I did not highlight any key match-ups this week, but there are several interesting things to write about (specific match-ups will be written about in the awards section).
First things first, in the First Worlds, there are only two squads with winning records: The Baby Ducks who extend their impressive undefeated streak, and the Tsunami of Insane Daleks with a 5-4 record. With only 4 weeks left in the regular season, the Baby Ducks have locked down a guaranteed spot in the playoffs. Right now, nobody else is 100% in or out. It would take the GDI or The Axis of Evil to have four perfect weeks, with other teams losing all four for them to make one of the coveted top four spots. If the regular season ended today, the Tsunami, Katie and Lauren would be in.
The brutality continues in the LDC's with 5 of the 7 squads having a 50% w/l or better. Nobody currently has a playoff spot locked up, but with a win next week for Macalester, he will definitely lock a spot down. Next week will probably start to lock some people out. If the season ended today, Macalester, Aaron's Black Crackers, Azeem and Helena would lock down the playoff spots with Smith and his ever-changing team name on the outside looking in.
The weekly awards go to:
The Rock-star performance of the week:
This goes to the Baby Ducks (yet again) for his week 9 victory, allowing him to sit both on top of the league, and his division. This also goes to the ABC's for having the top points of the week. Really, I think this is how both squads celebrate their weeks:

The Blowout of the Week:
This goes to the Baby Ducks for his 278 point decimation of Teghan who never added a 4th team after the country swapping that went down on Monday. While the Addition of Ukraine allowed the Ducks to steamroll Teghan, the other two countries on his bench struggled this week with very low numbers from Libya and Qatar. Regardless, this victory will give Jake a special power (which he will discover on Monday when the sealed envelope twist is revealed to the class).
The Squeak-er of the Week-er:
This week it goes to Lauren's 4 point victory over the TOMB. Lauren managed to beat the TOMB with only three countries (Nigeria, Romania, and Spain), which just seems to symbolize how bad the season has been for him. The TOMB did manage to pick up Cuba again in the swap, but low numbers from Sri Lanka and his namesake North Korea really hurt him. However, Alex does get to pick the first (un)lucky envelope in class on Monday being the team on the losing side of the Squeak-er.
The Bonehead Move of the Week:
This week it goes to The Axis of Evil, Azeem, Lauren, Teghan, and Adrienne for either not answering the call, or picking up a fourth country, although Azeem and Lauren still managed to win their match-ups with 3 countries a piece. These squads must be feeling a little Barlkey-esque right now:

The Sad Trombone Award:
This goes to Lucas....because he still has only 1 win but it also goes to the TOMB for losing to someone when he had a full squad and the other team was playing a country down. Really, both squads should be feeling like this right now:

Like I described last weekend, there is a potential twist that can be enacted at the hands of each envelope recipient. Envelopes will be selected in the following order:
Blow-Out Winner: Baby Ducks
1. Kim Jong Tomb (4 pt loss)
2. Helena (61 pt loss)
3. Adrienne (71 pt loss)
4. American Axis of Evil (152 pt loss)
5. Deleted Browser History (166 pt loss)
6. T-Money$$$ Givens (234 pt loss)
7. Teghan (278 pt loss)
Regardless of how the twist works out, there are several match-ups that are compelling in the final 4 matches of the regular season:
1. the TOMB vs the Axis of Evil.....if the TOMB has any wishes of being in the Playoff hunt (which is still entirely feasible), he must win. The same is true for the Axis, however, the TOMB has a better shot of getting back in the mix.
2. Teghan v. Katie, a win puts Katie back at .500 and makes her a likely lock for the playoffs as well.
3. Tsunami v. Lauren. She has been on a Hot streak lately, another win puts her in the same spot as Katie, a Win for the Tsunami increases his win lead on the 3rd and 4th spots in the division by 2 wins, essentially guaranteeing him a playoff berth.
4. Deleted Browser History vs. the Milfs. This is a near must win (but improbable) for our lonely pitcher.
5. T-Money$$$ vs. Adrienne. I believe this is also a must win for one of these squads, they are both on the bottom of the division, but not all the way out, however, chalking up a 6th loss will most likely deny one of them from the playoffs.
Tentative Weekly Picks (might change based on how the cards fall.....):
TOMB over Axis of Evil
Baby Ducks over GDI
Katie over Teghan
Tsunami over Lauren
Macalester over Deleted Browser History
Adrienne over T-Money$$$$
Helena over Azeem
Updated after the re-draft:
TOMB over Axis of Evil (Coalition)
Baby Ducks over GDI
Katie over Teghan
Lauren over Tsunami
Macalester over (Whatever Smith Calls Himself Now)
T-Money$$$$ over Adrienne ("Don't Be Upsetti, have Some Spaghetti?")
Helena(anything but east side?) over Azeem
And with that, your commish has lesson plans to finish, laundry to do, basketball to lament over, and alarms to set. See everyone tomorrow:
