The BFC (Final Project)
This essay may or may not replace your final exam….it depends on my mood etc……
The End Product: A 15-ish page paper, plus a bibliography. Sectioned by country(ies).
The Task: You are going to compare and contrast all 6 countries (you must use them each at least once) in any of the areas (you get to choose which countries you compare per area).
The Areas of Comparison (you must dive into each area once):
-Structure of Government (bodies, Constitution, etc.)/Regimes
-Policy Challenges
-Civil Society
-Economics
-Political Parties/Duverger's Law
-Dealer's Choice (you pick something)
Use the theories we discussed at the beginning of the semester to help simplify your comparisons (like systems theory). Make sure you are clear if your claims are empirical or normative.
I'm sure this will help you review for your final, and dazzle me as I think about what your final grade should be.
I will share anchor papers on my website if you want to see what folks came up with last year.
Due: May 5th. 2014
