Numbers are the devil. That's it, I've said it. Actually, I would feel perfectly fine if I just ended this post after that statement. Point made, right?
Probably not.......
I am on the least favorite part of any unit I teach to any of my government classes. I am teaching polling etc. to my AP US Government classes. I hate it because it is too cold, dull and boring. Scientific Polls vs Push Polls, bias leading questions, sampling sizes, demographics, yuck! You add numbers to the mix, and my hate meter is running on full.
To run into my hatred of polls and data, my students and I are on the quest to craft a poll to use on students/faculty in the building or parents or other adults to learn about political attitudes etc. We've taken some quizzes, we've read about the Gallup polling method, and still I'm bored, we're bored......I'm in a rut, for the first time in a while, I cant come up with a way to jazz this topic up.
Any thoughts?
